Fine Arts
Within the school program, biblical principles are incorporated and integrated throughout the day and throughout our lives so that we are living, breathing testimonies of His love and grace to a fallen world. We believe that human development is a complex mixture of growth in five core areas: moral, spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual. The arts provide unique opportunities to learn, grow, develop and provide expression of creative means of worshiping God.
Under guidance from The National Committee for Standards in the Arts and the Music Educators National Conference, we are pleased to offer students the opportunity to develop key parts of their brains and their spirits. Research confirms over and over again that these learning opportunities are NOT extras but are vital to the overall growth and development of the brain and the whole child. Studies show that Arts education is closely linked to almost everything that we as a nation say that we want for our children and demand from our schools. This includes academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement and equitable opportunity. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking and verbal skills. Our commitment remains steadfast to increasing opportunities for students to experience and learn in all aspects of the visual and performing arts: bans, chorus, regular music education, strings lessons, drama, etc.
Students at Penn Christian Academy participate in a wide range of fine and visual arts experiences each week and are also encouraged and given additional opportunities to participate in special activities at various times throughout the year. Regular music, art and physical education classes meet each week and opportunities to extend their involvement in band, choir and various intramural sporting teams allow students to explore areas of interest or ability.
